NaCSA MEETS WITH IsDB TEAM IN FREETOWN...

*NaCSA House 14-16 Charlotte Street, Freetown. Wednesday 17th July 2024* -  The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has met with a team of experts from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to discuss critical matters relating to the around remaining activities of the project, project's extension implication, the proposed transfer of the Palm Oil Project Activities to the SLCDD, withdrawal applications and the proposed SLCDD III.

It could be recalled that NaCSA is implementing the second phase of the Sierra Leone Community Demand Driven (SLCDD) project. The essence is to build the livelihoods of the rural poor by providing them access to socio-economic opportunities, capacity-building, demand-driven social and productive assets and services, access to a package of business development services including microfinance, self-help affinity groups, and building local-level institutions and governance structures benefiting over one million and five hundred Sierra Leoneans.

Speaking during this technical expert meeting,  the team lead from NaCSA was the Deputy Commissioner Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa. He thanked the mission and  IsDB for their immeasurable support to NaCSA and the people of Sierra Leone. The Deputy Commissioner further underscored that the Ndomahinalisation process has strategically repositioned the Commission to effectively and efficiently implement development programs. *‘’ … we have increased our capacity and aligned our programs with the national development framework – the big five game changers of His Excellency Dr Julius Maada Bio. The Commissioner remains committed to ensuring that projects are implemented with a focus on quality assurance, impact and sustainability.’’* He noted.

In an exclusive interview with the Programme Manager for SLCDD II – PM  Momoh Juana; he noted that *‘’…the withdrawal application is the disbursement process of funds from the IsDB. Our appeal is that the Bank processes the funds quicker so that the implementation process will not be stalled NaCSA, through the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has submitted a request for funds from the IsDB to implement the 3rd phase of SLCDD. SLCDD III is heavily skewed towards the *Feed Salone Initiative of President Bio. The meeting was fruitful, and our hopes were restored for future opportunities. We are certain that the IsDB has huge confidence in the capacity of NaCSA’’*

The Technical Team Lead (TTL) for IsDB Sabiu Awal and Asma Bousdira Project Management Specialist expressed optimism and thanked the team.
