The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) formally turned over building sites and contractors to the Bonthe District Council on Monday, January 20, 2025, for the restoration of feeder roads spanning 11 lots in the Bum Chiefdom. This project is a component of GPCYE, which intends to improve district development and infrastructure.
The contractors, engineers, and NaCSA team were all cordially welcomed by Councilor Septimus Ibrahim Lahai on behalf of the Council Chairperson. Speaking to the gathered crowd, he emphasized that 2025 will be a new year for the district and council. Underscoring the significance of their roles in the district's growth, Councillor Lahai urged all stakeholders to tackle their jobs with sincerity and determination.
In his remarks, Mr. Mohamed Vandy, the acting Chief Administrator, thanked the German and Sierra Leonean governments for their joint efforts to forward development projects. He agreed that the successful execution of projects depends on NaCSA's dedication to collaborating with the council. To guarantee the delivery of high-quality work, Mr. Vandy gave the contractors his word that the council's engineers and pertinent personnel are committed to working closely together.
To the council management, Madam Aminata Donnie Vandi, the Southern Regional Coordinator for NaCSA, on behalf of the Commissioner – Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina extended goodwill message to the people of Bonthe. She emphasized the importance of the council as the focal point for development, saying that without the council's support, no partner can carry out a project successfully. The contributions of the GPCYE in terms of delivery will build on some of the foundations of the Big 5 game Changers with respect to Feed Salone and Youth employment Madam Vandi noted. Finally, she advised the contractors to maintain vigilance against gender-based violence and cultivate good ties with the community.
The session concluded with Engineer Engineer Fatmata B. M. Kamara from 2 M D Construction Company gave a vote of thanks to end the session, recognizing the dedication and spirit of cooperation shown by all participants.
