At this year's Social Protection South-South Learning Forum (SSLF), the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) made a significant impact by actively participating in the global dialogue surrounding economic inclusion in Kigali, Rwanda. The delegation from NaCSA included Commissioner Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina and Idris Turay, the Senior Director and National Coordinator for the National Social Protection Secretariat. Their presence underscored Sierra Leone's commitment to enhancing social safety measures and economic support for its citizens.

The SSLF, organized by the World Bank Group's Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice, is a premier platform for learning and collaboration among policymakers and practitioners. Since its inception, the forum has united over 1,300 stakeholders from more than 100 developing countries, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and sharing effective practices in social protection systems. The focus of the 2025 SSLF was on promoting economic inclusion, highlighting the importance of creating viable pathways to better employment opportunities for impoverished communities. By gathering hundreds of experts from diverse backgrounds, the forum aimed to foster a deeper understanding of successful strategies and evidence-based models in economic inclusion programs.

Economic inclusion represents a crucial element of the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) Project, which aims to address the complex issues of poverty and unemployment. This integral component provides a comprehensive economic inclusion package for extremely poor households.

The government views this innovative economic inclusion package as a "graduation" tool intended to assist current and past beneficiaries of the SSN program in transitioning from reliance on regular consumption support to achieving sustainable livelihoods, thereby enhancing their economic independence and stability.

On the global stage, the Sierra Leone delegation presented a comprehensive proposed methodological framework for its economic inclusion intervention, showcasing practical strategies tailored to meet local needs. Additionally, they gained invaluable insights by engaging with best practices from around the world, which will inform future initiatives and strengthen collaborative efforts to combat poverty and promote social equity.

Through active participation in the SSLF, NaCSA reinforced its dedication to advancing social protection strategies that empower the most vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone and beyond.
