On Monday, January 20th, 2025, the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) engaged community stakeholders regarding the handover of the site for the construction of the Rogbangba Community Center in Hastings, Western Rural District.

This initiative is part of the Community Development Driven Project (CDDP), which aims to construct, reconstruct, and rehabilitate community facilities in rural areas of Sierra Leone. Funded by the Government of Sierra Leone, the project will address various issues, including health facilities, markets, schools, and community centres.

The Program Manager for CDDP, Mr Patrick Lebbie, emphasized that the construction of the community centre in Rogbangba is a government-funded program being implemented by NaCSA. He stated, *“As we initiate the construction of the Rogbangba Community Center, it is essential to understand the objectives of this intervention, which are critical for implementation. With the support of His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, NaCSA aims to provide the people of Rogbangba with a permanent meeting place, a source of livelihood, and an entertainment complex, fulfilling the community's desires.”*

The Headman of Rogbangba, Alhaji Thanko Kamara, expressed the community's eagerness for the timely completion of the centre. *“One of the main hopes of the people of Rogbangba is to see this community centre finished. We are pleased that the initial discussions have begun, and we remain optimistic,”* he noted.

Mr. Solomon Edwin, NaCSA District Coordinator for the West Area, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people through NaCSA. He assured me that the completion of the Rogbangba Community Center would be closely monitored to adhere to the established timeline. Also present at the meeting were NaCSA engineers, Gandor Bah and Marilyn Gbow.

The project is set to be completed within six months. Additionally, the community centre will be fully furnished and equipped with modern amenities.
