In a significant event marking the start of a transformative project, community members, dignitaries, and stakeholders gathered on Friday, April 11, 2025, to witness the Commissioner for the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina and the Honorable Paramount Chief Bai Farama Bubu Ngbak IV, turned the sod for the construction of a modern pavilion in Kambia District on behalf of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
This ceremony represents the beginning of a project that promises to enhance the community's infrastructure and provide a venue for social, cultural, and recreational activities. The pavilion is designed to be a central hub for gatherings and events, serving as a cornerstone for the community's development.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Ndomahina emphasized the importance of the project, stating, *"This pavilion is more than just a structure; it is a testament to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio's commitment to fostering unity, creativity, and growth within our communities. The Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) is exclusively funded by the Government of Sierra Leone and is meticulously aligned with the Big Five Game Changers, aspirations the President has cleverly outlined as a national development agenda.*
The event featured speeches from local leaders who highlighted the pavilion's potential to bring people together and serve as a venue for various activities. Ambassador Foday Yumkella also participated in the ceremony, noting that the turning of the sod represents a significant milestone. *"This project is the result of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio's commitment to empowering our community and providing a space for learning, creativity, and collaboration. The President has taken substantial steps to equip individuals with the skills needed to build brighter futures and drive sustainable development. We are here as witnesses and representatives as he construct structures and opportunities that will transform lives for generations to come."*
Kambia District Chairman Mohamed Mansari Ko Mansaray expressed pride in the event: *"Today is a remarkable day for our district and its people as we gather to mark the beginning of this project. This initiative is not merely about building structures; it is about building dreams, opportunities, and a brighter future for everyone in our community. I am immensely proud of the collaboration, determination, and vision that have brought us to this moment. Once completed, this pavilion will be a space where people can come together, share ideas, and forge bonds that strengthen our community. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved—President Dr Julius Maada Bio, partners, stakeholders, and residents—for their unwavering support in making this vision a reality."*
As the event continued, CDDP Programme Manager Mr. Patrick Lebbie handed over the contractors to the people through the Honourable Paramount Chief Bai Farama Bubu Ngbak IV of Magbema Chiefdom. The community members eagerly anticipate the completion of the pavilion, which is expected to become a vibrant space for engagement and collaboration. This initiative reflects a shared vision of creating opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
