Friday 7th February 2025 - The Deputy Commissioner of NaCSA, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, recently honoured an invitation from the NaCSA Women’s Forum to participate in their inaugural Islamic Thanksgiving service, held at the Central Mosque in Freetown. This significant event marked the first anniversary of the NaCSA Women’s Forum, which was established in 2024 to empower women and promote gender equality within the organization and the wider community.
In an exclusive interview, Md. Regina Saffa, the President of the Forum and Senior Director of Programmes elaborated on the Forum's mission. She highlighted that it was formed to strengthen the capabilities of women, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration not only among women but also with their male counterparts at NaCSA and Senior Management. This cooperation is vital to the successful implementation of the rebranding strategy initiated by the Ernest-Jimmy-led administration at NaCSA. *“Our Forum possesses significant capacity to reposition and recreate initiatives that impact women's roles. We are actively committed to ensuring that NaCSA’s rebranding strategy thrives because it aligns strategically with the Big Five game changers. The complete implementation of these development frameworks offers a promising assurance for us as mothers that the future of our children will be secured,”* she stated, expressing optimism about the collective potential of the Forum.
In his address to those gathered, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa reiterated his unwavering support for women in Sierra Leone. He acknowledged the substantial backing provided by the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, to initiatives aimed at strengthening women's rights and opportunities. Songa emphasized that this support would persist as the government enacts policies and legal frameworks designed to enhance the safety and growth of all Sierra Leoneans, particularly women. *“At NaCSA, we have been and will continue to provide essential support for the growth and advancement of women. We are fully dedicated to the commitments outlined in the 30% quota representation policy. We have further recalibrated our project implementation processes to ensure that more women become beneficiaries of our initiatives. Our goal is to empower women not just as beneficiaries but as active implementers of development projects. You can be assured that our commitment to this cause remains unrivalled,”* he concluded, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to gender equity.
The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for the women of NaCSA and all women in Sierra Leone. *“We ask Allah to guide, protect, and bless all women in Sierra Leone,”* they solemnly said. "Amin." This emphasizes a collective aspiration for continued support and upliftment of women throughout the nation.
