*NaCSA House 14 – 16 Charlotte Street, 23rd July 2024* –
The Commissioner for the NaCSA Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) – Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina has piloted his capacity-building initiative for nine young women. These young women have started career courses in Hotel and Tourism Management and Electrical installation which is critical to human development to the Big Five Game Changers. This aligns with the aspirations outlined in the *Big Five Game Changers of His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.*
Ambassador Ndomahina is amongst the leading Sierra Leoneans accelerating the actualization of these game changers both in his personal and official Capacities. Recently, he has supported more than thirty (30) Kush victims with capacity building and elements that relate to their welfare.
President Bio's reelection campaign revolves around these five game-changing elements. Achieving these goals is anticipated to significantly improve food security, boost investments in human capital, empower youth, re-energize the public sector, and propel technical developments in our nation. By changing the game, these innovators will decrease poverty, boost resistance to outside threats, and expedite social and economic development.
In his words of inspiration to these young women, Amb. Ndomahina reemphasized the commitment of His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio to human capital development. *‘’ …President Bio is very intentional in building the capacity of all Sierra Leone including both men and women, regardless of the place of origin and or political affiliation. You guys are going to be the ambassadors and I want you to please put up your best and graduate with flying colours.’’* He noted. The Commissioner further assured these women of his commitment to continue providing tuition fees, lodging and all other logistical support necessary for their advancement.
Georgina Blackie, one of these young women is currently an electrical and installation student at Aftech College. She expressed her appreciation to the Ambassador and assured him of her passion to be an example to others. *‘’ … this is my first time coming to Freetown, and as I speak, my fees, where I sleep, the food I eat and even the clothes are provided by Commissioner Ndomahina. I will not let this opportunity go; we will surely make the Commissioner very proud.’’* She noted.
Mariama Sulaiman is a single mother of one, she is equally part of the electrical and installation batch supported by Ambassador Ndoamhina. Mariama wants her only daughter to be a lawyer. *‘’Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer – it was a big dream that I was willing to give everything up just to achieve it but in between the lines, I failed in actualizing this dream because of lack of support. Today, I have started a course that will empower me financially and technically to support my daughter who will contribute meaningfully to the development of this country. I will live to tell her that it took one good man, Amb. Ndomahina to change my life’’* shed ended.
These young women have an encounter with Regina Saffa, the Director of Programmes at NaCSA. She told them that women are doing creative things and she is proud that they have accepted to be empowered. *‘’The Commissioner is very passionate about it because his commitment to achieving the big five game changers of His Excellency Julius Maada Bio remains unquestionable. Here at NaCSA, we have vowed to work with him in achieving these aspirations. You are our greatest asset and your communities are waiting for you to return so that you help others…’’* she noted.
In the climax, Albert King is the Personal Assistant to the Commissioner and has been of great support to these young women. Albert noted that the initiative is very laudable and he was amazed with the support of Amb. Ndomahina provides. *‘’… he supports them with everything but the most inspiring part is that these things are the choices of the young women. They discussed plans, courses and family challenges and sometimes took them shopping. They are like his own daughters and I tell you, this is an urgent call for us all.’’* He ended.
