Former NaCSA IEC Officer Pays Courtesy Call on NaCSA Commissioner...

The Commissioner for the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina on Tuesday 10th September 2024 received a former Project Officer for Information, Education and Communication for NaCSA and renowned journalist, Umaru Fofana.

During the courtesy visit, the Commissioner appreciated Mr Fofana for his role and contributions to the Commission during his reign as communication officer in 2005. He noted that the Commission is accessible for seasoned journalists to provide mentorship to the current communication officers. He believed that this would add value to the Commission’s capacity-building efforts.

Amb. Ndomahina commended the media in Sierra Leone for ensuring that activities implemented by the Commission are well covered. He reiterated that regardless of existing challenges, NaCSA has maintained an excellent working relationship with journalists and media institutions. Journalists, he said, “are among our key stakeholders and we will keep them updated on happenings in the Commission”.

The two further discussed critical issues relating to national development and the critical role of journalists in development interventions.

Umaru Fofana co-owns a local newspaper, Politico, and reports BBC and Reuters. His courageous reportage during the Ebola outbreak and the civil strife in Sierra Leone made him well-known around the world.
